Just saw Saint Misbehavin' at the Traverse City Film Festival, co-founded by Michael Moore, in Northern Michigan, and it was an awesome and inspiring film.

The best part was Wavy Gravy was in attendance~! He came out in full tie dye clown attire with a pet wooden fish on a stick. He also planted a clown nose on Michael Moore's unsuspecting shnozz!

Seems to me that he really dedicated his life to the "hippie" ideals - the please force @ woodstock, living and doing charity work with the hog farm commune his whole life, including a europe > asia road trip with a mission to feed the Burmese people after a typhoon! They ended up doing a 30 day trek through the Himalayas going from village to village with a doctor (who was also in attendance).

Nobody for President!
Nobody is perfect!
Nobody will lower your taxes!
Nobody will stop the wars!
Nobody never lies!

And when questioned about his support for Obama in 2008, he quipped "Hey... Nobody made me go for Obama!"

Here's a nice biography I saved after I read it a few years back:

BTW, does anyone have a transcript of his epic yet simple "Basic Human Needs" poem?

Thanks for your reply, dp. Nice to read a positive post.

And it allows me to mention the Seva Foundation, which the Grateful Dead has supported wholeheartedly over the years.
The link you posted was the same as the one I posted except in HTML format. I've always admired Ed Sanders' writing and as you saved it, it must have impressed you too.

I googled around for 'Basic Human Needs' but this was the best I could do. Amazon are doing a 99c mp3 download.
